I made garlic kale pork burgers for dinner tonight — cut up pork loin & ground it with garlic scapes, salt, ground black pepper, and kale. Then cooked patties and topped with kale sauteed in butter with more pureed garlic scapes. Served on an everything bagel, and they were very good.
I think our honeyberry bushes are getting confused by the <12hr a day sunlight and warm temperatures … we’re getting flowers?! Picked them off so the plant wasn’t wasting energy.
I saw a really pretty autumn planter box at a local restaurant and wanted to remember it for next year. Could even plant a pumpkin instead of the ivy so the gourd components would be live.

We have wild phlox that is purple and we have wild phlox that is white. But every now and again we get one that is white with purple stripes, and I love those. Anya dug this one up from the field and planted it in my bee garden last year, and it is huge this year. And still has the striped flowers that I love!
A neighbor gifted us black walnut seedlings he dug up from his yard — we planted them along the East side of the end of the farm path. Another twenty years, and we’ll have some more big walnuts lining the path!
