We got 105 hazelnuts from our bushes this year — two bushes were in their first year of nut production … so we should get a lot more next year.

Hazelnut Conclusion
The hazelnut that I have been photographing all summer is finally ripe — the final picture!
Grilled Corn
We’ve been picking corn and cooking it fresh from the plants — today, we grilled some. Very tasty, but it dries out if you cook it too long.
Blueberries
Now that we’ve got a peanut butter electric fence up, I’ve got some blueberry bushes planted in the orchard.
Hazelnut Progress
The hazelnut that I’ve been photographing all summer is almost ripe:
We’ve found 44 hazelnuts so far — they’re sitting out to dry. There were two really green nuts that fell — I kept those too, just to see if they’d finish ripening inside. So far, they’re browning up surprisingly well
And all of the hazelnut bushes are getting ready for next year — hopefully we’ll get loads of nuts!
Corn Harvest
Anya and I harvested a lot of corn today — 54 cobs are in the freezer, and a few didn’t make it up the hill!

More Hazelnuts
We found fourteen hazelnuts around the bushes today — and still some on the plants. There were more hazelnuts hiding under leaves than we thought.

And we harvested our first eleven ears of corn. A few weren’t fully developed (small kernels), but some were beautiful, plump yellow kernels. Very sweet and tasty — especially since we ate it within hours of harvesting it.
