Another Non-Computer-Thing Challenge
Anya says I’ve got too much “computer stuff” here again, and I am being challenged:
‘I hereby challenge Lisa J. Rushworth to not post any computer things on her website for 30 consecutive days. Any breach of this contract will add 10 more consecutive days on it.
“Computer things” includes all work things, home internet things, or server things.’
Which is odd because it’s not really a contract, but whatever. Umm … snow?
Frozen Wonderland
We finally had a sunny day, so there was a lot of melting going on even though it was cold. And then it got really cold. We’ve got crystalline ice droplets all over our pine trees.
First Robin of 2025
There were at least six robins hanging out in the bushes next to our duck yard this morning. Odd since we’re about to get the coldest and snowiest week or two of the winter … but they’re still the first robins of the year!

First Fireflies of 2024
I don’t remember when we saw the first fireflies — walking back to the house after dark, there was one lonely little flash out in the field. But, over the past week or so, that one flash has been joined by dozens of others.
A Bird in your pocket?
I had clothes drying on the line, and Anya grabbed them just before sunset. She quickly tossed everything into a basket and brought it into the house. A short time later, I got the clothes out of the basket to fold. I took out a pair of Scott’s jeans and … out flies this little bird! No idea how she got in there, and I’m really glad she didn’t seem to be hurt in any way. We turned off all the interior lights, opened the front door, and turned out the outside light. A little following her around and trying to persuade her to go in the right direction and swoop, she flew outside.
Eclipse
We watched the eclipse — it was surprising how much energy the sun puts off when the moon is mostly covering it!
But we had the totality for just under four minutes, and it was dark … and “sunrise” was everywhere.
