The buzzards used to hang out in this old, dead tree across the street; and, after the rain, they would spread their wings and dry out. The tree fell a while ago; but, now that our roof is stable … we’ve got buzzards airing out their wings on the roof.
Looking at the calendar, these are clearly turkey vultures. The spell to become buzzards won’t be cast until the 15th!
We were building our log archway this evening, and I thought there were a few geese coming in off the lake … but they were flying strangely (well, strangely for geese anyway). Gliding through the air, I saw five buzzards! They are really early this year (although they were also flying south … so maybe they thought better of hanging out this far north in January?).
Anya and I saw a single buzzard on Sunday, but today was the first time we saw a whole flock circling …
Anya didn’t close the chicken tractor well today. When I looked outside to check on the chickens, I saw Sunshine right by the house. We headed out, rounded up the three escapees, and refilled their water. On the way back into the house, there were three buzzards flying over the house.
