In Ohio, you have to <a href=\"https:\/\/agri.ohio.gov\/wps\/portal\/gov\/oda\/divisions\/plant-health\/licenses\/apiary-licenses\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">register your apiary every year<\/a> &#8212; something to remember if we do get a hive! We&#8217;d need to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.betterbee.com\/wooden-hive-equipment-8frame\/BK8UP.asp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">get a hive<\/a> &#8212; and misc equipment. Harvesting the honey seems pretty labor intensive &#8212; I like the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.honeyflow.com\/collections\/all\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Flow hives<\/a>, but a grand for a hive is a <em>lot<\/em> and I expect there&#8217;s a <em>lot<\/em> of honey that remains in the hive. Which may not be a bad thing &#8212; I&#8217;ve certainly read about people feeding their bees sugar water over the winter. And I assume that&#8217;s from over-harvesting the honey.<\/p>\n<p>Quilt tops &#8212; a shallow box on the top of the hive, with a wire mesh on the bottom, which is filled with straw or wood chips.
