Beyond being fun, emojis are great for quickly<\/em> finding something \u2013 instead of reading all of the channel names, I can quickly scan to find the video icon or little balloon.<\/p>\n

To add a new channel, click the ellipsis next to the Team name and select \u201cAdd channel\u201d<\/p>\n

In the channel name field, hold the Windows key on your keyboard and type a full stop (period, dot, \u201c.\u201d). Now you\u2019ll have an emoji keyboard.<\/p>\n

Select an emoji and type some text.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Alphabetically, an emoji is first \u2013 so \u201c\ud83c\udf9eTraining\u201d will sort before \u201cA Channel\u201d. You can still at-mention channels with emojis in the name. For this to work well, make sure you have spaces around the emoji character. When I have a channel named \u201c\ud83c\udf88Party Planning\u201d, I cannot use @party as the at mention \u2013 Teams tells me it doesn\u2019t find any matches.<\/p>\n

I can<\/em> use @planning to find my channel.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

If I rename the channel to \u201c\ud83c\udf88Party Planning\u201d with a space between the balloon and \u2018Party\u2019, I can<\/em> at-mention @party and find my channel.<\/p>\n

And, yes, you can rename existing channels (except for the \u201cGeneral\u201d channel which cannot be renamed<\/a>) to include emojis \u2013 click on the ellipses next to the channel and select \u201cEdit this channel\u201d.<\/p>\n
