Most domain controllers have A records registered for the domain name, so you can connect to the domain name. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"336\" height=\"179\" src=\"http:\/\/lisa.rushworth.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/LDP01.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4158\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.rushworth.us\/lisa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/LDP01.png 336w, https:\/\/www.rushworth.us\/lisa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/LDP01-300x160.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 336px) 100vw, 336px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Active Directory generally prohibits anonymous read, so you&#8217;ll need to bind to the directory. From &#8220;Connection&#8221;, chose &#8220;Bind&#8221;. If your computer is logged into the domain, you can select &#8220;Bind as currently logged on user&#8221;. If not, select &#8220;Bind with credentials&#8221; &#8212; in addition to the fully qualified DN of an account, AD allows you to bind with both userPrincipalName and sAMAccountName. userPrincipalName is userid@&lt;domain.name> and sAMAccountName is domain\\userid. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"353\" height=\"330\" src=\"http:\/\/lisa.rushworth.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/LDP02.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4159\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.rushworth.us\/lisa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/LDP02.png 353w, https:\/\/www.rushworth.us\/lisa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/LDP02-300x280.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 353px) 100vw, 353px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Now that you&#8217;ve logged into the domain, you can select &#8220;View&#8221; and &#8220;Tree&#8221;. You can click around, or right-click the root of the domain and select &#8220;Search&#8221;. Look for something generic like &#8220;(&amp;(objectClass=person))&#8221; to find user accounts.
