Oh no, I didn\u2019t mean to delete THAT!!! Sure, it asked me five times if I was sure that I was sure \u2026 and maybe that\u2019s part of the problem \u2013 I see so many \u201care you sure<\/i>\u201d messages that I click OK a little too easily. Well, they say to err is human. And I must be exceptionally<\/i> human ?<\/span> Sometimes recovering my data requires a sheepish call to the Help Desk. But did you know you can recover deleted Teams channels?<\/p>\n

I used the hamburger menu next to a channel to delete it. Oops!<\/p>\n

I even read the first few words of the \u201care you sure\u201d dialogue before clicking the \u201cDelete\u201d button. Except … oops! I didn\u2019t want to delete that<\/i> channel!<\/p>\n

You can recover the channel immediately, all by yourself. Even if you\u2019re not a team owner. From the hamburger menu next to the team, select \u201cManage team\u201d.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

On the Team management page, select \u201cChannels\u201d. You can expand \u201cDeleted\u201d and see the channel you just removed. Click \u201cRestore\u201d<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

Yet another prompt \u2026 click \u201cRestore\u201d again.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

Voila, the channel is back. Along with all its content. Whew!<\/p>\n

Just because channel recovery is self-service doesn\u2019t mean no one will know that you\u2019ve mis-clicked. The channel deletion event which appears in the \u201cGeneral\u201d channel \u2026 well, it\u2019s still there. You can up-vote a request for enhancement<\/a> on Microsoft\u2019s site \u2026 but it\u2019s not like no one will every know about your mistake. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
