{"id":255,"date":"2016-02-26T11:00:57","date_gmt":"2016-02-26T16:00:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/lisa.rushworth.us\/?p=255"},"modified":"2017-01-09T16:04:27","modified_gmt":"2017-01-09T21:04:27","slug":"anya-quilt-part-1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rushworth.us\/lisa\/?p=255","title":{"rendered":"Anya Quilt &#8211; Part 1"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I have been working on an Ohio Star quilt for Anya&#8217;s bed (figure anyone who lives in Ohio should have an Ohio Star quilt or two in their house!). Constructing a quilt is a\u00a0great visual example of exponential\u00a0progression.\u00a0Piecing the\u00a0four tiny triangles into fairly small squares\u00a0&#8230; you&#8217;ve still got a whole lot of tiny pieces.\u00a0Strips of three squares put together were still a lot of small pieces. But,\u00a0the quilt builds up rather quickly from there &#8211; strips turn into 3&#215;3 blocks, then these blocks form\u00a0three really large strips with a border fabric between them. Then border strips go in between the star strips to form the entire quilt top.<\/p>\n<p>I had the final top pinned together and took a quick picture to share. Something didn&#8217;t look right. Took the picture, folded up the project for the night, and went on to other things. Right before bed, I pulled the picture up again to send to my mom:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-257\" src=\"http:\/\/lisa.rushworth.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/20160225_223327-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"20160225_223327\" width=\"620\" height=\"349\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.rushworth.us\/lisa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/20160225_223327.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.rushworth.us\/lisa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/20160225_223327-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.rushworth.us\/lisa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/20160225_223327-768x432.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 620px) 100vw, 620px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Something REALLY didn&#8217;t look right &#8230;\u00a0stared at it for a few minutes before I realized that two of my block-triangleblock-block strips were attached\u00a0upside down! Instead of having a pink\u00a0triangle along the center block, I\u00a0have\u00a0a white triangle. Looking back at the\u00a0previous step, I do not know how I missed it:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/lisa.rushworth.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/20160225_213145.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-256\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-256\" src=\"http:\/\/lisa.rushworth.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/20160225_213145-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"20160225_213145\" width=\"620\" height=\"349\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.rushworth.us\/lisa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/20160225_213145.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.rushworth.us\/lisa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/20160225_213145-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.rushworth.us\/lisa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/20160225_213145-768x432.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 620px) 100vw, 620px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Evidently there is no historical basis for a humility block (an &#8220;intentional&#8221; mistake put into a quilt &#8211; sort of like small dead end roads used to copyright protect maps) &#8230; and, honestly, it always sounded like a defensive &#8220;I meant to do that!&#8221; kind of thing rather than a real &#8220;only God is perfect, so my quilt should have a flaw to avoid angering God&#8221; thing \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>My task for today is to rip out the two backwards blocks and get them stitched back into the quilt. Ugh!
