{"id":1358,"date":"2017-05-12T12:06:02","date_gmt":"2017-05-12T17:06:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/lisa.rushworth.us\/?p=1358"},"modified":"2017-07-16T12:38:00","modified_gmt":"2017-07-16T17:38:00","slug":"homemade-dog-food","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rushworth.us\/lisa\/?p=1358","title":{"rendered":"Homemade Dog Food"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In case we\u00a0<em>do<\/em> get a dog, I wanted to have a few recipes for homemade dog food because I\u00a0<em>really<\/em> don&#8217;t want to feed a dog fat coated grain nuggets.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/homesteading.com\/homemade-dog-food-recipe-instructions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Liver Brown Rice<\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>2 lbs raw chicken livers (3 containers) \u2013 remember, you can also use beef liver<\/li>\n<li>2 cup of cooked brown rice, set aside<\/li>\n<li>1 cup of\u00a0chopped carrots<\/li>\n<li>1 chopped broccoli,<\/li>\n<li>2 cup of\u00a0water<\/li>\n<li>1 teaspoon olive oil for pan<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Chop veggies and liver into bite sized pieces. Saute liver. Add water and simmer until liver is cooked. Add veggies and cook for a few more minutes. Cool and refrigerate\/freeze.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.caninejournal.com\/homemade-dog-food-recipes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Beef Sweet Potato<\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 pound of beef<\/li>\n<li>1 small sweet potato<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 cup of carrots, diced<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 cup of green beans, diced<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 cup of flour<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 cup of water<\/li>\n<li>1 tablespoon of vegetable oil for frying<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Microwave the sweet potato until mostly cooked and chop into bite sized pieces. Dice beef and saute in olive. Remove meat from pan. Add flour and water to make a gravy. Add in veggies, sweet potato, and meat. Cook over medium-low heat until carrots are cooked (5-10 minutes). Cool and refrigerate\/freeze.<\/p>\n<p>Lots of Veggies (my own)<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>3 lbs beef offal<\/li>\n<li>1 cups brown rice<\/li>\n<li>3 cups spinach, shredded<\/li>\n<li>1 zucchini, chopped<\/li>\n<li>1 cup peas<\/li>\n<li>1 tablespoon oil<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 cup flour<\/li>\n<li>2 eggs<\/li>\n<li>1 cup meat stock<\/li>\n<li>1 1\/2 teaspoon ground egg shells<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Dice everything into bite sized pieces. Saute meat for a few minutes until mostly cooked. Add in flour, egg, and stock to make a gravy. Stir in veggies and cook for another 3-4 minutes. Cool and refrigerate\/freeze.<\/p>\n<p>Apples!<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>3 lbs turkey\/chicken<\/li>\n<li>1 cups brown rice<\/li>\n<li>2 apple<\/li>\n<li>2 cup carrots<\/li>\n<li>1 tablespoon oil<\/li>\n<li>2 tablespoons tapioca powder<\/li>\n<li>2 eggs<\/li>\n<li>1 cup meat stock<\/li>\n<li>1 1\/2 teaspoon ground egg shells<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Dice everything into bite sized pieces. Saute meat for a few minutes until mostly cooked. Add in flour, tapioca powder, and stock and heat make a gravy. Stir in fruit\/veggies and cook for another 3-4 minutes.
